Happy New Year from Chris and Vivian…..WOW!! What an amazing first year we had at Loon and Eagle on beautiful Lake Kipawa!
We wanted to take a quick moment to reminisce a little on our first year, and fill everyone in on our exciting plans and what we have in store for 2022,.
Before we do: First and foremost we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone of our wonderful 2021 fishing and family vacation guests for your overwhelming support in making our first year at Loon and Eagle a fantastically successful one. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Even though we had a late start accepting guests due to border restrictions, we had a very early spring on Lake KIpawa, which turned out to be a tremendous blessing. This early spring gave Vivian and I a wonderful opportunity to get a head start on prepping our main property “Eagle” for our grand opening. As it turns out there was wayyyy more work to be done than we thought.
Topping the list were: Extensive renovations to each cabin including new flooring and washrooms, plumbing including running of hot and cold water lines, cleaning of the property (WOW was there ever a lot of brush to be cleared), the construction of an outbuilding to house the new solar power for the camp, and rebuilding the fish hut among man many other little projects.
Finally on June 16 we were able to accept our first ever guests at Loon and Eagle, and so began the steady flow of wonderful families joining us to enjoy an amazing summer of fishing, campfires, and building memories that last a lifetime. By the way the fishing was outstanding with excellent catches of early and late season Lake trout, and steady Walleye and Smallmouth bass through the spring, summer, and fall. A few of our younger guests were catching bass over 5 pounds which prompted me to start our Loon and Eagle “Little Guides” program. Our first members being; Josh-age 9. Kaito;-age 10, Taka-age 12. Excellent job boys!! This coming year we are looking for our first group of girls to join this club.
Our season wrapped up with some late fall work on our outpost camp “Loon”. We were able to do some extensive clean up of the grounds and major renovations to two cabins (installing hot and cold running water, flooring, propane furnaces, and new washrooms) to name a few. Both cottages are now ready to accept guests for the 2022 fishing season.
Our mission is to create that unforgettable wilderness experience combined with modern amenities, so you and your family can build memories that last a lifetime. With that comes a dedication to excellence and Continuous and Never Ending Improvement (CANI).
Spring of 2022 will see more major additions to our lodge.
Installation of solar power to our outpost camp (Loon) and the opening of two more cottages for early spring 2022 along with a few other property enhancing projects, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The spring of 2022 will also see our main lodge, Eagle, getting a 36’x16’ deck built beside the beach/swim area with tables, chairs and umbrellas, to relax and enjoy hot summer days on the water, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and connecting with friends and family over a few cocktails.
As part of our “Green” initiative to preserve and protect this wilderness paradise, and with our clients safety in mind, we will be adding multiple brand new 15 HP 4 stroke outboards to our modern fleet of boats and motors.
For our nature and hiking enthusiasts we have marked hiking trails for those that wish to experience the woods up close. One trail is already complete with two more marked for prep.
We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise, and helping families build those memories that last a lifetime.
2022 is going to be our BEST YEAR EVER!! We can’t wait for you to experience what Loon and Eagle and Lake Kipawa have to offer.
See you at the lodge!
Chris and Vivian
